Great collection of clips from charlotte mason's writings. But definitely not a complete book! Better to buy the CM collection and get the entire meat of her offerings. This book has the "author's" favorite selections that she had highlighted and put together for herself to remember and have a quick access to. I hadn't known that when I bought it or else I would have put my money towards the real deal (CM's actual collection of books)
I normally read books on time management expecting to see scientific data and business examples. This book approached the subject from a mother's point of view teaching her children and having what we now call a Christian world view. Great wisdom packed into an easy read and the book suggestions at the end were a p!us too.
Every stay at home Mom should read this. I have proven this to be true over my 30 year career as a stay at home, homeschooling Mom and Grandma.
Many parents, myself included, think too many things are “rules†when they are properly known as habits. The se habits are what parents need to guide children to establish in their behavior. Once accomplished, many of the daily struggles will subside. Parents aren’t so much dictators as teachers/guides to bring children to know better. I see many times where I expected some behavior but failed to show them. I would be akin to yelling at someone who didn’t change a tire correctly, but the person was never really taught the proper way to do it. Great perspective on raising children.
As a parent of 4, I needed this refreshing reminder of how habits can literally make or break a family's daily rhythm and impact the peacefulness of the home as well as the intimacy of the parent-child relationship. Great read and not too scholarly to be able to follow along with, as I've found other writings by Mason to be.
