Randy Deutsch AIA, LEED AP is the Associate Director for Graduate Studies and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA, teaching and conducting research in design, professional practice, building technology, and digital technology. Randy is an international keynote speaker, workshop leader, and design technology authority. An architect responsible for the design of over 100 large, complex sustainable projects, Randy has been an Exec Ed program leader at Harvard GSD. In terms of content, this is a book well worth reading. Randy does a great job articulating the coming role of superusers, or tech-enabled people, within architecture firms and how to utilize them in a way that takes full advantage of their skills. He also articulates well the ambiguities and frustrations of how to utilize or think of these roles right now as there really isn't a defined career path right now. If you're in management at a design firm or frustrated with your role, this book is well worth the read.In terms of read, for how short and easy of a read this is, there is plenty of useful content. Randy does a great job putting together the content in a way that makes sense. He also let's others, those in the front lines in terms of doing the job and managing those doing the job, do most of the talking which I can appreciate. I would say though that that does occasionally take away from the flow of the read though it wasn't worth taking a full star off for that.Also, I bought this on Routeledge so it won't show up as confirmed purchase.
